Installing SharePoint 2010 SP1 and June CU
It is recommend to first apply SP1 to your SharePoint environment because it resets the baseline for your entire SharePoint environment, and prepares your environment for future releases such as the June CU. The recommended order in which you should apply SharePoint Foundation vs. SharePoint Server Updates. As Per the guidance from the SharePoint team, when applying SP1 or the CU it is recommended to apply the Foundation packages before applying the Server packages. SharePoint Foundation 2010:
- Download SharePoint Foundation 2010 SP1
- Download June 2011 CU for SharePoint Foundation 2010
- Install SharePoint Foundation 2010 SP1
- Reboot Server
- Once the server has rebooted, start SharePoint Configuration Wizard and complete the process.
- Upon completion you should be able to open Central Administration window.
- Verify Upgrade Success: After installing SP1, the version of the content databases will be 14.0.6029.1000
You’ve got a new baseline for future CU’s
- Install June 2011 CU for SharePoint Foundation 2010
- Reboot Server
- Once the server has rebooted, start SharePoint Configuration Wizard and complete the process.
- Upon completion you should be able to open Central Administration window.
- Verify Upgrade Success: After installing the June 2011 CU, the version of the content databases will be 14.0.6106.5000 / 14.0.6106.5002
SharePoint Server Standard/Enterprise 2010:
- Download SharePoint Foundation 2010 SP1
- Download SharePoint Server SP1
- Download June 2011 CU for SharePoint Foundation 2010
- Download June 2011 CU for SharePoint Server 2010
- Install SharePoint Foundation 2010 SP1
- Install SharePoint Server SP1.
- Reboot Server
- Once the server has rebooted, start SharePoint Configuration Wizard and complete the process.
