Windows Azure to Microsoft azure

Microsoft is all set to rebrand Windows Azure to Microsoft Azure. This makes lot of sense as the previous name (Windows Azure) gave an impression that it was limited to only Windows or Microsoft stack only. But, Azure today has evolved as a multi-platform and enterprise-grade public cloud platform. Today, it supports Windows, SQL and .NET to Python, Ruby, Node.js, Java, Hadoop, Linux, and Oracle. So, in that sense the rebranding makes lot of sense. Also, Microsoft has announced trade-in scheme that invites Indian SMBs to exchange older hardware for Azure credits. Click here to find out more

Microsoft brings eSignature to Office 365 customers

Microsoft Corp. and DocuSign on Monday announced a long-term strategic partnership to make DocuSign’s industry-leading eSignature apps widely available from within Microsoft Office 365. DocuSign’s eSignature apps for Office 365, available in the Office Store in early March, will provide customers with the ability to submit and sign documents without leaving Microsoft applications, allowing them to quickly, seamlessly and confidently transact their business.
DocuSign’s new solutions, built on the Office 365 platform, will include integration within Outlook, Word, SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server 2013.

Microsoft Windows Azure Setup : Pre-Requisites & Notes
1. BizSpark Registration
Pre-Requisite 1: Exclusive Privilege for Startup’s attendees: Get access to Sign Up Microsoft BizSpark Program Instantly. For further details please Go here
2. Please remember to get your laptop to the event as you would not be provided with systems at the venue.
3. We strongly advise you to install the following mentioned software’s on your laptop when you come to the session so that you do not waste time in between the sessions which could hamper your learning.

Setting up the environment:

a. Install Web platform Installer : link
b. Search for “Microsoft Windows Azure SDK or .NET” and download the same. This downloads all the dependencies automatically.
a. Install Visual Studio 2010 (Express and it works very fine) link
b. Run Windows Update to get VS 2010 SP1 installed
c. Install SQL Server (Express) link
d. Install Microsoft Windows Azure Tools and SDK : link

Important Note: Sign Up for Windows Azure Trail Account before the event and have your subscription ready.
